Joe Sam Robinson, MD, MS, PhD (Honorary), FACS, is a veteran neurosurgeon who diagnoses and treats patients as President of the Georgia Neurosurgical Institute in Macon, Georgia. Furthermore, he hosts a television show called Observations on Cox Channel 112 dedicated to discussing current topics of politics, religion, and healthcare with a variety of guests. As a neurological surgeon, he specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system including congenital anomalies, trauma, tumors, vascular disorders, infections of the brain or spine, stroke, or degenerative diseases of the spine. Dr. Robinson’s professional journey spans thirty-nine years. Earlier in his career, he served at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Navicent Health (Chief of the Neurosurgery Department), as well as the University of Illinois, Yale University, Mercer University, and the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Robinson has fulfilled many invitations to lecture on disorders of the brain and spinal cord all over the world. He has contributed over 115 articles for publication in such noted periodicals. Moreover, he has authored a book Toward Healthcare Resources Stewardship and is currently working on a second one about trauma. Dr. Robinson attended University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, and received his medical degree in 1971. Then, he served his neurosurgery training at St. Bart’s Hospital and National Heart Hospital in London, England, Northwestern University, Emory University, and Yale University where he was named a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. Furthermore, he conducted his neurosurgery fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, New York. In addition, Dr. Robinson received board certification in neurosurgery from the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He remains a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
